capi opened in January 2021 in Kitashinchi and quickly earned a Michelin star for its bold and creative cuisine.
Chef Daiki Ogawa began his career in Italian cooking and trained at Ponte Vecchio, a restaurant which helped shape the Italian food scene in Japan. There, he learned to treat ingredients with respect and to bring out their full potential in every dish. His plates let you enjoy each element to the fullest.
Chef Ogawa also works closely with herb growers trusted by top Michelin-star chefs around the world. This partnership lets him express specific aromas and textures through his food.
Highly respected by fellow chefs, his cooking is often praised for its perfect balance. It’s not by chance; it is the result of daily study and a deep, honest dedication to his craft.
The name “capi “combines two Italian words: “api (bee)” and “cima (peak)”. Bees have long symbolized prosperity and are seen as messengers of the gods.
Inside the restaurant’s warm, eight-seat counter space, you’ll find three hidden bee designs. Try to spot them when you visit.
With its thoughtful approach and unforgettable dishes, it’s no surprise that capi is one of Osaka’s most celebrated innovative restaurants.
