  • Kyoto Kawadoko (May to Sept)

Nestled in the narrow, cobblestone alleys of Ponto-cho by the Kamo River, Daitoryo serves Kyoto cuisine in a beautifully renovated, 140-year-old Japanese house, rich with Kyoto’s historic ambiance. The menu highlights yuba (tofu skin) and seasonal, local ingredients prepared in a classic Kyoto style.

The owner, a certified guide-interpreter, offers English-speaking guests a unique insight into Kyoto’s history, culture, and attractions alongside the carefully crafted dishes.

In the evening, guests are treated to stunning views of the Kamo River and Minamiza Theatre.

From May to late September, you can dine on the riverside terrace “yuka,” enjoying the cool Kyoto breeze, or savor a warm yuba nabe hotpot in the cozy autumn and winter seasons.
